April Blooms in Crofton, Maryland

Crofton, Maryland, is located in Anne Arundel County, home of the U.S. Naval Academy, Fort George G. Meade, NSA, BWI, and Northrop Grumman; about 35 minutes from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore Maryland.

Crofton is a "community," however, and not just a subdivision or zipcode .  The distinction is in the residents who make Crofton one of Money Magazine's Top 100 Best Places to live.

One of the residents responsible for making Crofton, Maryland, the community it is today is Kaye Callahan.

As a young mom in the late 60's/early 70's, Kaye spearheaded the effort to line Crofton Parkway with flowering cherry trees and other sections of the community with Bradford Callery Pear trees.   Crofton residents have enjoyed the fruits of her efforts (or should I say "blooms" of her efforts) for four decades.   Here are a few pictures to show you April in Crofton, Maryland, thanks to Kaye Callahan.

Don't you love our Cherry Trees?

Thanks again, Kaye, for bringing such beauty to a community that could have been just another suburban subdivision of cookie-cutter homes.  It truly is the people - not just the location or the homes - that make Crofton a special place to live!

If you're relocating to the Baltimore-Washington area for a new job at Fort George G. Meade, Andrews AFB, the U.S. Naval Academy, BWI, NSA, NASA Goddard, Northrop Grumman or anywhere in the D.C.-Baltimore area, consider Crofton.

Beautiful pictures and so true.  I hope all is well in your end of the world.  I have been busy with listings & a few sales.  Rob is getting ready to open the doors on his new ventures (which has kept me busy as  well) He is opening a carryout on a main road to the beach.  He should open his doors the end of this month.

OVERSTUFFED SANDWICHES!  Breakfast & Lunch.  Its exciting and scarey all in the same.  He said he is ready to hang up his hammer.

Talk to you soon!

So beautiful- the Arizona equivalent would be the orange blossoms... though not quite as visually stimulating as the cherry blossoms, this is the time of year that we await with eager anticipation as the fragrance is almost overwhelming.

Karen - Yes, I did.  Crofton's cherry blossoms are amazing, although aging.

Katie - That sounds like a great business, and he can do construction in the off-season, if he wants.  You'll have to send me the address so we can check it out.

Chuck - 'Would love to see some photos of them - I can only imagine the lovely fragrance.

Margaret, I don't know if you're trying some kind of subliminal sales strategy but each post you put out makes me want to move back to Maryland.  Nice photos.

Bill - Writing this inspired me to call Kaye today to thank her for the beautiful trees.  Just think of the cumulative effort of individual people who shape the appearance and personality of a community!

Mark - Now, if this strategy just generates a few buyers or sellers...

Margaret - You're welcome!  Maryland is beautiful at this time of year, and we're so fortunate to have these flowering trees in our c.ommunity.

Thesa - Snow!?!?!?!  Well, if it's any consolation, I always drool at the photos of your beautiful scenery

Beautiful - that's the part of spring on the mainland that I miss.  Vancouver has such wonderful cherry tree lined streets.
